Academic Work
As a faculty member in Capilano University’s Department of Applied Behavior Analysis-Autism, Brenda teaches a variety of courses to undergraduate-level students, many of whom are pursuing certification as Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts. Known for designing and delivering both on-campus and online courses that are engaging and thought-provoking, Brenda challenges her students to engage critically with course content, encouraging them to consider instructional issues from multiple perspectives, keeping their learners’ best interests at the centre.
Brenda has also developed a course that is provided in both spoken English and American Sign Language that meets the course-based requirements toward certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). This is the only course of it’s kind and is offered online through Capilano University as part of the Applied Behavior Analysis-Autism degree program or as a stand-alone course for those seeking RBT Certification.
